Fall

Fall is finally here! The weather has changed considerably - warm(ish) days and cold nights! It was 40 degrees yesterday morning!! The leaves are starting to change colors and fall to the ground. Sunflowers have bloomed. Pumpkins have turned orange and are now sitting on the counter until they are turned into a pie and other delicious pumpkin treats. I just love fall!

It's hard to believe that tomorrow is the first day of October! With October comes an exciting new opportunity for me! As most of you know, I've not had an easy time finding a job since we moved. I have been watching Braxton part-time but have still been looking for something to bring in a bit more income. Well the Lord answered that prayer! On Monday I start a full-time babysitting job which will not only bring in more income, but it will allow me to continue watching Braxton at the same time! Elizabeth is 4 months old and the cutest little thing.

Since I'll be having her full-time in  my home, I've been on the lookout for some items that would come in very handy. The Lord certainly blessed in this area! I was able to get a high chair and an activity walker for $3 each. Both were in excellent shape and will be so nice once she is able to use them. The high chair has already been such a blessing with Braxton!

Can I just say that God is so good? Not only did He provide a steady income for me, but He has allowed me to stay at home at the same time! Many months ago I remember having a thought that it would be so nice to just be a stay-at-home daughter, but then I had to bills that had to be paid. God has given me the desire of my heart and is providing for my needs at the same time! This is such great training for the future, and I look forward to the day that it's my own little family that I'm staying home with!

"Delight thyself also in the LORD;
and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart."

A Date

*Edit - I received a comment asking if I would court if it were a true man that I was interested in, and I feel I must clarify things. The answer is yes, I believe in courting. Some may argue that courtship and dating are the same thing, but let me tell you what courtship means to me. Simply put, courtship has parents involved, is only entered after prayerfully considering the man in question, and is entered with the mindset of marriage not just 'to have a boyfriend like everyone else.' *

Yep, I went on a date yesterday. :) We had a nice picnic lunch. The 'man' in question is considerably younger than I am, shorter, required me to feed him, drank from a sippy cup, and even made me wipe his nose! So, it wasn't the most romantic time....ok, it wasn't romantic at all, but it was fun anyways. :)

As you can see, he wasn't very cooperative getting a picture together. :)

Afterwards I made him some liquid sidewalk chalk (equal parts of water and cornstarch, plus dye) and he had a blast with that! What a fun little guy!

Dilemma

What do you do when life gives you zucchini and a new cake plate??

You make a chocolate zucchini cake!

Note: this was NOT my best cake. I guess that's what you get when you frosting is a little on the runny side and you get lazy and use a ziploc bag instead of a piping bag. :) Oh well, at least it tasted good! That's what matters the most, right?

Redeemed

We sang this song on Sunday and I just love it! In our hymnal we have two different arrangements for it and I prefer the one by A.L. Butler...it's just so pretty. Maggie, Brother Majors and I sang it a year ago and I'm not sure that I ever posted it. So here it is along with the lyrics.

Redeemed, how I love to proclaim it!
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed through His infinite mercy,
His child, and forever, I am.

Redeemed, redeemed,
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed, how I love to proclaim it!
His child, and forever, I am.

Redeemed, and so happy in Jesus,
No language my rapture can tell;
I know that the light of His presence
With me doth continually dwell.

I think of my blessed Redeemer,
I think of Him all the day long;
I sing, for I cannot be silent;
His love is the theme of my song.
