Crocheting

You may remember me talking about crocheting in this post.  I've been kinda playing around with it the past few days. I had some yarn that I bought several years ago for something and decided I would try out a pattern I liked.  I didn't have the correct gauge of yarn or the correct size hook, but I thought I'd give it a try anyways.  It still turned out like it was supposed to...just a mini version. :)  This is what I was making Saturday night, while listening to the rain. <3

Selena gave me some more yarn the other night, so of course I had to make something with it!  Once again, I don't think it was the correct gauge but I think it turned out really well.  I would make it longer and with a softer yarn next time. I skimped on size since it's a scratchy yarn and I probably wouldn't wear it as often. :))

I've been having quite a bit of fun exploring the world of crochet.  As I learn new things, you'll probably be seeing them every once in a while.  Do you know how to crochet/knit?  What's your favorite thing to make?

  1. I used to know how to crochet, but it's been a long time. I want to learn how to knit. Maybe I can take those hobbies up while I'm burning Institute DVD's;). BTW tell your Dad that Christology is on the way to him and Chris. I really like the yellow one!

I heard an idea once that people were doing to try and earn extra money that involved crocheting. This womanwent and found out what the colors were for the local HS team and then croched scarfs in those colors and sold them at the local football games. Eventually it got to the point where the opposing teams felt left out and so she made some in their colors too. Not sure if you ever thought of that but I thought I'd pass it along.

Ironically tonights message at church was about contentment. Hang in there sweetie. It will get better, besides if you were working you wouldn't be able to spend time with Alyssa next week. I hope you hear something soon.

  4. Selena refreshed my memory of how to do it when we first moved here, but I hadn't really done anything since then.

I made the first scarf on Saturday night, and the other I've been working on the past couple of days.

  5. Once upon a time I learned to crochet... a long line like Maggie's:) That's as far as I got. My mom used it for the sewing cards for the ABC's class. Someday I'll finish my quilt too:)

  6. You did a great job on both of those scarfs. Your stitches are nice and even. I think you are right about the Morelli scarf, it needs to be longer. I like the detail and color of it.
